EVENT: Skydiving Competition

TIME: Friday, May 30, 2008 @ 6:30 PM Server Time

LOCATION: Twin Colossals in Feralas

CAPSULE: The skydiving competition will see all the participants perform a series of jumps from a great height and attempt to land without getting injured, using specially made parachutes. The landing conditions will get increasingly dificult as the competition progresses, including water, soft terrain, hills and even a road. After a group round, the competition will enter an elimination phase till one skydiving winner remains.

COST: Each particpant MUST bring with them minimum 3 gold to cover the cost of the parachutes for the first three jumps. Those doing well afterwards will have the additional costs of the jumps covered from the event funds.

DRESS: Given the height, no amount armor will protect you from death if you don't land well. Instead, every participant is encouraged to make a SKYDIVING OUTFIT. Just think of outrageous stunt man costumes and you are right on the mark. Make your costume today! Make us laugh!

COSTUME COMPETITION: If enough people make their skydiving oufits, I'll add a costume competition to the mix for more fun.

PRIZES: The rare Black Tabby cat minipet.

FORBIDDEN:
- rogue characters
- Slowfall, Blink and Iceblock for mages
- Levitate for priests
- bubbling for paladins
- any items that break a fall (capes, trinkets, etc)
- any other ability that can reduce fall damage or speed
- cat form for druids

NOTE: Characters of all levels can enter. The lowbies can be summoned to the area. No mounts required. Make an outfit!

You should also Forbid mages from blinking as a skilled mage can fall any hight and survive by blinking.

And rogues. Forbid the rogues cause of that natural abillity to take no damage from falling.

Now that's just classist! Fine, fine... I'll bring my Pally if Rain can't come.

Let's not forget Pally bubbles and Mage Ice Block.

Actually water walking for Shamys will kill you if you are jumping from high up..you take dmg if you land on the water with it up. Trust me...I tried it *grin*

Naurt, if you farm a rare pet out, it will definitely be great! There are other events coming up and a rare pet makes a wonderful prize. However, the emergency on this issue is over. Keep farming when you get a chance and let me know if you get something. I will do as well. We'll need prizes in the future.

ok, i'll go back to farming again after i get Mastal to exalted with SSO. need to get the rest of those gem patterns from the new vendor. i currently have all of the patterns i have rep for. and Mastal is currently Revered so there's only about 12 i don't have yet

Thanks to all for coming out to this event! Through death, misdirection and some really nasty crashes, we have conquered one of the highest jumping grounds in the game!

What I didn't count on was the skill of some of the competitors. Everyone made it to the second round and in the end we were left with 5 jumpers (the three above plus Allium and Belchun) who went from one perfect landing to another. We could have done this forever, most likely, so I had to tighten the rules

The mobs got in the act, accidental falls off the cliff and a whole buch of events. Thank you all for coming to the event. I had tons of fun leading it.

Firesfury was the winner of the rare black tabby cat from one of the rare spawns available only to the Horde. Congrats!
